Please thoroughly explain your interpretation. Why does Phoebe become upset with Holden?
Phoebe is a young girl at the age of 10 years with an outstanding personality that
complicates her characteristics. She is the only friend to Holden in the Novel. According to
Holden, Phoebe is the only person who understands him, a confidant and possesses an
innocence, intelligence among other traits that he values so much. This is evident on many
occasions throughout the novel, and Holden narrated how he loved the old Phoebe as he says,
