Introduction
Voting is a method through which a group of people elects their leaders in a democracy. Such a
group can either be an institution, a country, a constituent or any other formation. Voting allows
people or the voters to make a collective decision. This occurs after holding discussions, election
campaigns or debates. It is through voting that a country demonstrates democracy where the
people collectively hold the power to make decisions on their hands. In other words, the power
lies with the people, not the leader and if the leader fails to serve the intended purpose, the
people can vote for another leader in office. Voters select the party that comes the closest to their
values, interests, as well as priorities. People make reasonable choices by determining the party
who provide the best means through which they achieve their ends.
Conflict perspective
According to the conflict perspective, conflicts and tensions arise when status, resources, and
power are distributed unevenly between societal groups and such conflicts induce social change.
