I have chosen the “Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks” authored by Rebecca Skloot and reviewed
by as the focus of my literary research paper. Ideally, this research paper will illuminate on the
contribution of Henrietta Lacks in the field of medicine and influence of bioethics.

In “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks,” Skloot narrates the story of Henrietta and her
contribution to biology and in medicine as well as reflecting on the ethical conducts in the
medical research. According to Ciaccia (2010), Henrietta was an African American, who started
as a dancer and a tobacco farmer after getting married in 1943 to David Lacks. Her life got to a
stake in 1951 when she was infected with cervix cancer making her hopes to live longer to be
decimated. The first diagnosis at John Hopkins, the closest medical center for treating African
Americans, involved the removal of sample tissues from her body after which she was alerted
that she had an incurable condition on returning to the hospital. Ideally, during the second visit,
