Running head: MODULE 1 1 The Strategic Compass Trident University International August 20, 2019 MODULE 1 2 Introduction A mission statement is a statement or writing that is brief and is used to indicate the principles, value, and goals of an organization. Its purpose is to give direction to the curriculums and the different functional departments of an organization. A flawed mission statement is that statement that misguides on purpose and the objectives of an organization by failing to submit them clearly. This leads the organization to head into the wrong direction regarding development and in all the visions that they would hope to achieve in the future. On the other hand, a vision statement is a statement or a document that contains both the current and future objectives of an organization. During the formulation of any firm or company, there are always the goals and objectives that they intend to achieve both in the near and distant future. All this is contained in the vision statement that each organization is expected to develop during its inception. Saint Francis de Sales Schools as an institution is expecting to have an update on their current mission and vision statements. This update will help in emphasizing more on their strategic plan and how it will make an impact on people’s lives. Criteria for Developing a Meaningful, Quality Vision and Mission Statements Criteria for the mission statement One of the criteria for developing a mission statement is that it must be informative in the sense that it must be able to communicate and convey the overall goal of the organization. It is important that the mission statement in being informative should clarify the overall purpose of the organization. Secondly, another criterion is that it should be simple whereby it is supposed to be composed of few and precise words (Aithal, 2015).. Having a heavily detailed mission statement most of the times loses or fails to give the intended purpose of the organization. MODULE 1 3 Another criterion is that it should be memorable where the words used to compose it should be descriptive and have the possibility of inspiring action. A memorable mission statement can motivate the employees and inform them what the organization is all about all the time. A fourth criterion is that the mission statement should be achievable and not overly exaggerated. Many of the companies may intend to formulate a grand mission statement to attract investors, but sometimes, they should set a realistic system that is achievable (Klag, Giroux, & Langley, 2012). A fifth criterion of developing a mission statement is that it should be an employee buy-in. This means that during the formulation stage, all the employees and stakeholders of the organization should be asked for views and feedback on what they would propose to be included in the mission statement. Criteria for the vision statement To begin with, the first criterion of the development of a vision statement is that it is supposed to be future-oriented. The vision statement must be able to demonstrate where the company or organization is headed to and what the future has in store for the employees, the stakeholders, and the society at large. Secondly, the vision statement should be unique. Being unique refers to whether the statement is embracing the diversity that may be found both in and outside the country. Thirdly the vision statement should be memorable just as the mission statement. The statement should be easy to remember where it should also state the intention of the company (Cady et al. 2011). Another criterion for the development of a vision statement is that it should be purpose-driven. It should hold a connection between the company employees where they should be given a purpose to keep doing what they are doing. A fifth criterion is that the vision statement should be achievable. The formulation of the vision statement should make it become realistic and achievable where, on the other hand, it should be exaggerated. MODULE 1 4 Saint Francis de Sales Schools Mission Statement To change the lives of students, parents, and the society at large through the integration of education with technology and in the process, help in the evolution of the education curriculum system. Saint Francis de Sales Schools Vision Statement To become a leading global center of excellence in terms of helping the students, parents, and society in the aspects of the curriculum, co-curriculum, and life issues. Justifying the Mission Statement Saint Francis de Sales school in the previous was a very renowned institution not only in England but in different countries around the world. However recently it has been facing some major problems in different sectors of its administration and running of things. The mission statement that I am proposing to the institution is “To change the lives of students, parents and the society at large through the integration of education with technology and help in the evolution of the education curriculum system." One of the reasons for this is because the student enrollment process in the school has been decreasing recently. The main reason for this is the evolution that is taking place in terms of technology. The school has been very slow in terms of keeping up with the change in terms of technology, and this has been affecting its functions. This has led to parents opting to move their children to other schools that are up to date with the current technology. The proposed mission statement will help the school is changing its direction towards embracing technology. Another reason as to why the school has been on the decline is due to the introduction of free education in the country. This has led to parents moving to other public schools, which are free. According to the proposed mission statement, the society MODULE 1 5 members who are not able to raise the tuition fees will be assisted by the school in the pursuit of changing their lives and assisting them in getting a quality education. Justifying the Vision Statement A few years ago Saint Francis de Sales School was highly honored due to its offering of quality education, moreover their goal plan of being extremely the best that made them implement the strategies for developing different ways on how education and other life factors would be improved. One of their big goals was to pervasively spread education and opening up of new platforms to accommodate students and scholars from everywhere around the globe. The institution should look forward to implementing a strategy for bringing back the old days of success to become the current ones. On the other hand, Saint Francis de Sales school strategic goal plan should be to change the lives of all the stakeholders in all aspects of life. They should go out of the education part, although it is still important and extend to other aspects which include co-curriculum activities. Not every student might be excellent in terms of education, and because of this, the school in the near future should aim to have an impact in such student lives in terms of enhancing their talents and skills. This would help the institution in the future to be the leading institution in the world in all aspects of life (Gurley et al. 2015). Lastly, according to the proposed vision statement, the institution should in future have proper mechanisms that will enable it to embrace diversity, especially in this time that the world is becoming globalized. The rationale for the Adopting of My Version of the School's Vision and Mission Statements John Handover, who is the head of the board of trustees, has every reason to accept and adopt the vision and mission statements that I have developed for the Saint Francis de Sales MODULE 1 6 school. When he was elected to head the board, the school was performing well and was being reckoned by many students and parents in the whole of England. However, things started falling apart, and the enrollment ratio of new students in the school started decreasing (Gurley et al. 2015). This was brought due to different factors that were all revolving around the failing of the future strategic plan of the institution. This is mostly driven by the mission and vision statements of the institution which the school failed to take advantage of ones it started facing challenges. One of the challenges that the institution started facing was the low numbers of student’s enrollment. This was mainly brought by the introduction of free education in the country by the government, forcing parents to take their children to public schools. Saint Francis de Sales school as a private catholic institution could not offer free education due to the business aspect of the organization. John Handover should adopt my proposed mission and vision statement because they both offer a solution to the mentioned problem (Klag, Giroux, & Langley, 2012). The less abled parents who cannot raise tuition fees would be assisted in a way and enabled to provide quality education for their children. A second reason for the deteriorating state of the institution was its delaying in the adaptation of technology. According to the proposed mission and vision statements, the institution will shift focus in the adaptation of new technological ways in the improvement of the students, parents, and the society at large. Another reason as to why John Handover should accept the proposed mission and vision statements is because it is not flawed. A flawed mission statement, which is not the true statement, brings confusion and fails to align with the actual units mission, job descriptions, and goals. In the inception of any organization, there are those major objectives that are at the forefront and must be achieved (Aithal, 2015). These primary objectives are put in the mission statement to portray the organization's main intention. When in turn, a flawed mission statement MODULE 1 7 is put in the line this means that the actual set targets objectives are done away with and replaced flawed ones. This may cause harm in the direction of an organization where the mission and vision statement is supposed to align with the actual mission. Conclusion In any institution, goals are set as a way of formalizing the ambitions of a unit, or an organization wants to achieve. With Saint Francis de Sales school, it would mean that the goals and objectives will be evaluated by the use of behaviors that are mostly not of benefit to a department or unit of an organization. In simple terms, flawed mission and vision statements fail to show the institutions and the stakeholders at large in the right direction to take. It is a requirement for organizations or companies to have a mission and vision statement to guide it to achieve the different goals and objectives that they have. However, if the statements fail to include the future, this means that the institution won't be able to develop its own culture and will not have a certain direction in its endeavors. The stakeholders, on the other hand, would not have a purpose on where they are headed and what they are expected to do. In summary, one can say that a poorly drafted mission and vision statement can be termed as the beginning of the downfall of any organization or institution. Currently, McCain Foods is the world-leading organization in the preparation and distribution of frozen potatoes or oven chips to be specific. The firm is very insistent on the use of market focus during its conducting of daily businesses. This means that it spends some extra time in the market and in the field doing some research on what the consumers want on their tables. After this, the firm goes back to the drawing board and formulates a strategy on how to meet consumer needs and wants. The different types of potato chips that the company produces include Potato Smiles, Crispy Bites, and Sumthings. It is worth noting that just like other companies; McCain Foods is also affected by some factors in the external environment during the formulation of its strategic plan. A SLEPT analysis of the company can best describe the threats and opportunities that the company experiences in its external environment. Strategy Followed by McCain Foods McCain Foods uses several strategies to run its daily business in the production of potato chips. One of the main strategies that the company uses is that of the market focus. Market focus involves investments in field and market research whereby the company identifies what the consumer needs are and works towards their fulfillment. McCain Foods have been using this strategy for a while where they go out in the market and discover what the consumers want. After the collection of this information, they then manufacture those products that the consumers want and sell to them (How McCain responds to changes in the external environment, 2014). This strategy has helped in several aspects and has led to the company becoming one of the leading companies in the world in terms of frozen potato chips. It has also helped them in waste MODULE 2 3 elimination where they avoid the manufacturing of items that will not have a large share in the market. Another strategy that the company uses is that of being customer-centered. All the activities of the firm are conducted with the intention of satisfying the customers. On the other hand, the company tries as much as possible to attract more customers to purchase their products. This is with keeping in mind that there are also other competitors in the frozen potatoes space who offer similar foods as compared to McCain Foods. To achieve the strategy of customer focus, the company has formulated different teams that research on what the customers want and advises the company on what to do. This has led to an increase in sales revenue for the company due to the increased number of customers that purchase their products. SLEPT Analysis of McCain Foods Social Factors Social and cultural factors affect the businesses that investors want to venture into the international market. There is the need, therefore, to study the social and cultural environment of their potential market because it will affect how practical their impact on the market will be. The brands with the freshest and the trendiest products have a positive effect on the market, but at the same time, the business should be aware of the social image that it has in the country that they are going to venture into. McCain Foods, for example, has innovative, efficient, and customerfriendly food products which they want to introduce to the market. One of the social threats that have been experienced by the company is that of the change in eating patterns. People are being encouraged to eat healthier foods, and the potato chips are being referred to as junk by health experts. This has led to the downfall in terms of sales for the company. To counter this, the MODULE 2 4 company has invested in improving the nutritional values of their products to suit what the health practitioners recommend. Maintaining the right social image is essential because it galvanizes the popularity of the products and would improve the company's business in the nation. Legal Factors Legal factors, in this case, involve the laws that the business will have to cope with once they tap into this market. This would include legislative issues such as consumer protection, health and safety laws, labor, environment, taxes, and licensing regulations, among others. These laws determine how profitable business will be in an environment. McCain Foods has been in the front line to makes sure that they follow to the letter the guidelines that are provided by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) (Kukalis, 2009). These guidelines include that organizations advert should be decent and honest to avoid misleading consumers. Legal issues can have a significant impact on the business affecting the business image and the profits of the company. A legal opportunity that can be derived from this is that of taping into the foreign market (Gilbert, 2015). To flourish in a foreign market, McCain Foods would have to comply with the legal standards that the country presents and maintain an ethical work environment. Economic Factors Economic factors are the most important for a business because that’s why a company enters a market in the first place. The economic environment determines how one will perform because it determines how the markets behave and how much the business will profit from the environment. Unlike other industries, the food industry is resistant to economic factors. McCain Foods has discovered that consumers are becoming financially rich but time-poor where they are always busy (Madhavaram, Hunt, & Bicen, 2017). This has changed the narrative, where people MODULE 2 5 prefer ready-made food as opposed to preparing some at their home. The company has therefore seized this opportunity whereby they are preparing ready-made chips for those who have less time to prepare them from their homes. Political factors Political factors constitute a significant threat to a brand opening internationally. The political climate of a country determines how the business will perform. Political stability is beneficial for a company and ensures that the business performs well, while political turmoil has adverse effects on the business. Political instability would mean a lot of disruptions to many of the business vital supports that the business needs to be running smoothly. For example, political instability would involve disruption of the supply chain and distribution network in the business, therefore, cutting off the business from suppliers. The political climate in the U.K has become strict where the manufacturers are pressured to produce healthier foods (Kukalis, 2009). McCain Foods, on the other hand, has been supportive of different government initiatives such as the 'Healthy Schools.' Moreover, the government attitude towards an international brand of healthy products is a positive one. Technological Factors Customer convenience and safety are the most critical aspects of food products. That is why the McCain Foods Company has placed eco-friendly and organic products as their priority. The technological aspect is crucial because the company needs to be up to date with the latest technology for them to remain competitive in the market. Canada and other countries in the world are very technologically advanced, which means that there will be a lot of competition even from the local food shops. Nevertheless, the Division may edge these local shops because MODULE 2 6 the promised products are relative to a higher quality compared to these local products. McCain Foods has a team of technologists who are facing some serious threats in their field. One of the threats is that the company should learn different ways of freezing their potatoes while still maintaining the flavor. Should McCain Foods Consider Making Any Adjustments According to the current strategies that the company is using, it would be wise to recommend that McCain Foods should make some adjustments to their strategies. The two main strategies that they have incorporated are those of the market focus and customer-oriented. The two have turned out to be reaping huge profits in recent years, but there need some adjustments to them to make sure that they overcome uncertainties. One of the adjustments they should make is that of utilizing the technology available to the fullest. The world has really grown in terms of technology, and the e-commerce strategy is quickly taking over. The internet has become a huge hunting point for companies, and McCain Foods should also chip in just like other companies. This will enable them to view and react to the market trends which are always available online (Madhavaram, Hunt, & Bicen, 2017). Additionally, the company will also get a chance to view the demands of its customers and provide them their wants. Another adjustment would be on the health aspects of their products. Health experts recommend that foods should have low-fat content for them to be safe for human consumption. Due to this, McCain Foods should work on ways to reduce the fat contents in their potato chips to avoid breaking the available legislations on foods. Have McCain Foods Been Effective in Responding to Changes in the External Environment MODULE 2 7 McCain Foods has developed different ways in which to respond to the externalities that are always availing themselves in the food market. One would think that the company has not been effective in responding to them due to some several reasons. One of the reasons for this sentiment is because for a company to produce potato chips, they need to fry them deeply, which requires some fat products. One of the legal threats is that companies should not sell consumers foods that have high-fat content. McCain Foods has not been able to respond to this fully although some few steps have been made to make sure that even though the chips have fat content, they are safe for human consumption (Gilbert, 2015). It is also worth noting that the company, despite these challenges, has been able to respond to other externalities that have been availed. An example of this is that of having to put a label of the nutrition contents of their products on top of the cover of the foods that they sell. This is an initiative by the government to make sure that the consumers are informed of the content of what they are consuming. Conclusions In the 21st century, both the internal and external environmental factors have grown in importance for business. Companies are investing highly in products with the least environmental impact if not zero impact on the environment. McCain Foods has been able to offer products that would attract a lot of customers in the market to purchase them. These products also create a positive business image for improving the popularity of the business in the nation hence increasing market size and ultimately profits from sales. After the conducting of a SLEPT analysis of the McCain Foods Company, one would be able to discover the different threats and opportunities that the company faces in its attempt to thrive in the market. These externalities range from the social, legal, economic, political and legal aspects of the McCain Foods business operations. MODULE 2 8 References Gilbert, S. J. (2015). Springer, Cham. Running head: MODULE 3 1 The Action Compass Rochelle Watson Trident University International September 18, 2019 MODULE 3 2 Introduction Competition is an essential component in every industry and serves an excellent course. Competition helps those companies in that industry to develop high-quality products that meet the tastes and preferences of the consumers. The prices of high-quality products are also sold with lower prices that make them affordable to the customers who need them. Both the consumers and the organization reaps huge benefits because the needs of the customers are met while on the other hand, the organization is able to create some value for itself. There are different tools that are used in the measuring of the competitive prowess of an organization. One of the tools is known as the grand strategy matrix is a tool that provides organizations with a second option or alternative that helps them to remain competitive. The second tool is the BCG matrix, which is used to determine and evaluate the strategic position of products or services that a firm offers while at the same time providing an approximation of its potential in the future. Barnes and Noble is an online company that sells books and has a large number of sales in terms of retail numbers in the United States of America. Grand Strategy Matrix of Barnes and Noble The grand strategy is divided into four quadrants through which a company’s portfolio is run through as a way of determining its level of competitiveness. The first quadrant is the (Strong Competitive Position and Rapid Market Growth) quadrant. Firms in this quadrant are referred to be working in a friendly environment where they have a higher market growth as well as a higher competitive edge. The second quadrant is the (Weak Competitive Position and Rapid Market Growth) quadrant where firms exist in a fast-rising industry but faces problems in the market due to the presence of competitors (Ireland, & Hitt, 2005). The third quadrant is the MODULE 3 3 (Weak Competitive Position and Slow Market Growth) quadrant, where the firms in this position are less competitive and exists in markets that are growing slowly. Firms in this space are expected to make drastic changes to avoid their instant demise. Lastly, the fourth quadrant is the (Strong Competitive Position and Slow Market Growth) quadrant, where the firms are strong competitors who exist in a slow-growing industry (Hall, & Gupta, 2010). This is the recommended quadrant for many because firms are given a chance to develop their products and also identify potential markets for their products. According to the analysis of the Barnes and Noble Company, the optimal strategy for the company is supposed to be the first quadrant where the company should have a competitive position and a rapid market growth. This is because, with such a nature, the company will be able to fight off competition and other fragilities that may appear on the market (Ghemawat, Baird, & Friedman, 2018). Companies that belong to this quadrant are very advantageous when it comes to attracting customers to come and purchase their products. There is also an increase in the sales revenue in this quadrant where the customers get what the purchase for and in the process, the company is able to make a high number of sales. The onus should be left to the management of the Barnes and Noble Company to formulate different ways in which they will be able to remain competitive in the market and also increase its market share. Assumptions after Applying the Grand Strategy Matrix The grand strategy matrix of the Barnes and Noble Company can derive several assumptions through which one can determine the company’s position. The two aspects that one can use to determine this is through market growth and its competitive position. To begin with its competitive aspect, the Barnes and Noble Company can be described to be a worthy competitor MODULE 3 4 in the bookselling industry. This can be supported by several facts one of them being that the company is one of the leading retail companies in the whole of the United States in terms of the selling of books. This is with regard to the existence of other rival companies who are also doing well in this space. Examples of the different competitors that are competing together with the Barnes and Noble Company in terms of bookselling include Amazon, Borders Group Inc., and Books-A-Million. It is worth noting that the Borders Group Inc. is the second leading book retailer, and it is only second fiddle to the Barnes and Noble Company. In terms of competitiveness, the assumption that one can make is that it is a very strong competitor company and is thriving well among other rival companies (Ireland, & Hitt, 2005). Secondly would make assumptions on the Barnes and Noble Company in regard to the market growth of the industry that the company is found. The bookselling industry cannot be referred to as the rapidly growing company due to several reasons. One of the main reasons for this assumption is due to the existence of the e-book platforms which sell books online. The Barnes and Noble Company operates using their different stores around the United States and ones a customer makes their order, and they are directed to collect their book or books in the nearest store around them the assumption to describe this industry would be that it has a slow market growth. Have a slow market growth have several advantages that come by it (Rosecrance, & Stein, 2016). One of the benefits is that it gives the companies involved a huge chance to conduct their research on how well they can do to improve their share in the market. Low market growth also helps new entrants to gain ground and avoid being choked off ones they try to compete with the already established companies. BCG Matrix of the Barnes and Noble Company MODULE 3 5 A BCG matrix analysis of any company comprises of the stars which represent the strongest product that the company uses. Secondly, there are the question marks which shows those products that a company has and they have some potential to grow. Thirdly there are the cash cows which assist the company in selling high in the market. Lastly, there are dogs which refer to products that have low sales and low market shares. Stars Question Marks Book stores Internet business These are considered the star since they bring This is one platform that the Barnes and Noble the company a lot of money through sales. The Company have the potential for growth if well demand for books in the nearest place possible utilized. Nevertheless, it is not meeting this is facilitated by the company having stores potential. Cash Cows Dogs Books DVDs Books fall in this category since they generate For a very long time, this product has been tophuge profits, and their market share is high. rated, but nowadays no one uses them. This is This therefore means, Barnes and Noble due to some recent shifts in the market, Kids MODULE 3 6 Company does not invest further on the DVDs have become outdated and are not being product. Instead, they manage them properly to used frequently as compared to the earlier ensure a continuous stream of revenue. times. Comparison of the BCG Matrix and the Grand Strategy Matrix The grand strategy works as a tool for determining how competitive a company is in the current market niche. On the other hand, the BCG matrix works in identifying those products, services or platforms that a company should invest more in as a way of getting high revenues from the market (How the BCG Matrix Works. 2013). After the analysis of the two on the Barnes and Noble Company, the use of the BCG Matrix supports the choice of the grand strategy usage of the company. This is because the grand strategy describes the bookselling industry as a slow-growing industry while the BCG matrix describes the books as the most selling product of the company due to the ample time given to the company to conduct its research. The two matrices are therefore essential in helping the company to thrive and get maximum profits even in the light of competitors. Recommendation Grand Strategy for the Barnes and Noble For Barnes and Noble, there are several strategies that they need to implement so that they may fit in the first quadrant of being a strong competitor as well as thriving in a high growth market. One of the strategies that they need to focus on is that of growing its market. It is worth noting that the company has some few numbers of retail shops which are only found in the United States. This is when compared to other competitors who are also involved in the sales of books, which include amazon (Ghemawat, Baird, & Friedman, 2018). The onus is therefore left MODULE 3 7 on the management side to source funds that will help them in coming up with several stores that will enable the servicing of customers on a daily basis. By increasing the number of retail shops that they have, Barnes and Noble Company will be able to fight off their high-end competitors like Amazon. A second strategy that the Barnes and Noble Company should adapt in order to fit in the first quadrant is that of product development. Right now, the main product for the company is that of bookselling. With product development, the company will come up with different products that will act as supportive products to try and bring equilibrium in the market share (Rosecrance, & Stein, 2016). By introducing new products, the Barnes and Noble Company will be able to create a niche for itself in the market in the light of competitors. This will also help in the raising of the sales and revenues and impact the profit margins of the organization at large. Conclusions It is advisable for any company to gauge its competitive prowess in the market to determine their dominance as well as the loopholes to be filled. With the analysis of Barnes and Noble Company using the different approaches, it is worth noting that the company is much dominant in the market and is going to remain there for a long time. One of the reasons for this is because it has invested in different types of products in the books industry. However, the company should make sure that they invest in foreign countries which offer a huge platform for them to expand. Additionally, the e-commerce sector is also another platform where the Barnes and Noble Company should utilize on top of the several book stores that they have all over the united states. Running head: MODULE 4 1 The Culture and Moral Compasses Trident University International Rochelle Watson October 1, 2019 MODULE 4 2 Introduction Organizational culture is the beliefs, values, mission, and vision of the organization that it adopts to meet its daily operations. Leaders in the organization have various cultures that enable them to run the firm, or even the organizations have multiple cultures that guide their employees. Different theories try to shed light on the understanding of organizational culture. Various businesses have unique customs that enable them to run smoothly and make profits while attracting many customers at the same time. Hotels are some of the organizations or facilities that need to have a suitable and established culture to be able to perform well and attract more customers. The Gaylord Palms Hotel is a hotel and a convention center that was established in the year 2002 at Kissimmee, Florida. In its inception, the opening manager, together with the hotel owners developed different ways in which they would establish a culture for the hotel in which they will work towards achieving its course and abiding by it. By the Gaylord Palms Hotel having a definitive culture for both the employs and how to serve their customers, the hotel has been able to remain on top and among the best hotels that are most admired in the country. Organizational Culture at the Gaylord Palms Hotel The organizational culture of the Gaylord Palms Hotel has been used to create value for its members in different ways. The opening manager and the board members aimed at giving with members and staff a reason to have some passion for keeping working in the hotel. They introduced the person culture, which is not prevalent because individuals do not see themselves as superior to the organization. Culture influences a lot on the behavior of leaders in an organization and how they handle the informal organization controls. Role culture is used in the Gaylord Palms Hotel to influence the behavior of a leader in that one is employed according to their level of expertise in a particular field. The role culture enables many leaders in this organization to execute commands and increase profitability for the firm through the skill that they possess in various areas (Bortolotti, Boscari, & Danese, 2015). Role culture influences how employees in this organization undertake their daily activities, and it also builds up specialists in various fields. Role culture influences many groups in that those with the same skills and ideas can work together as a group. This allows them to fulfill the needs of the organization as well as building their leadership skills and entrepreneurial capabilities. A hotel like Gaylord Palms belongs to the service industry, and this makes service a value that they should very much uphold. Failure to offer the best service in the hotel may lead to the downfall of the organization where the customers will be left dissatisfied (Ford, Wilderom, & Caparella, 2008). They will end up seeking for hotel services elsewhere, and this means that the hotel does not leave up to the expectation. Service is also salient as a value because poor services may damage the reputation of the organization, which would lead to the formation of a bad image out there in public. Gaylord Palms Hotel’s management urges their employees to serve their guests warmly and also show a smile on their faces while doing this. It helps the guests to feel appreciate and deprives them the need to go and seek the hotel services elsewhere (Gander, 2009). They are also urged to engage the customers and guests where they should speak first and last. An example of this is when a guest arrives, and the waiters are expected to welcome them and enquire what MODULE 4 5 services would they like to receive.
