A good photograph needs to have some qualities which will make it comprehensible by
the viewer without much explanation from the photographer (Gräsbeck, Gräsbeck, Miettinen, &

Some of these indicators include:


Purpose; A good photo should have a clearly defined subject. The viewer should
immediately notice the subject without much effort.



Light; is one of the important aspects of a photo as lighting helps to illuminate the
subject. The light may be from a natural source or an artificial source. Poor lighting will
not bring out the mood being expressed for example a poorly lit photo will immediately
set a dull mood even if the moment was joyful.



Color; Color in photography creates an emotional connection between the image and the
viewer. Brightly colored images tend to portray an exciting moment, a happy moment.



Composition; How objects are arranged in a frame will make the subject of interest stand
out in a shot. This will direct the viewers’ attention to focus more on the subject.
