bits per second
Bandwidth (of a signal): constrained by transmitter and
communication medium (and amplifiers or repeaters).
Noise: the average level of noise over the communication
Error rate: the rate at which errors at receiver occurs.
Data rate is the most important since that one determines the speed of the transmission since most of the others depends with the medium and the obstacles they meeet on the way
