Question description

Week 1 - Discussion 1

Your initial discussion thread is due on Day 3 (Thursday) and you have until Day 7 (Monday) to respond to your classmates. Your grade will reflect both the quality of your initial post and the depth of your responses. Reference the Discussion Forum Grading Rubric for guidance on how your discussion will be evaluated.

Forces Driving the Electronic Health Record

Two goals of the electronic health record are improved patient care and decreased cost. Do you see this as effective incentives? Why or why not?  Compare and contrast different types of health records (i.e., inpatient, office visit, emergency room). Include in your post a discussion on standards and goals, such as incentives, safety adoption and assistance for those in rural and underserved areas, and how that would ensure patient safety, privacy, and better outcomes.  Respond to two of your classmates’ posts.
