Question Description

I’m studying for my Sociology class and need an explanation.

n the late 1800s, Horatio Alger wrote over 100 fictional stories of amazing success from rags-to-riches. Functionalists used Alger's stories to support their belief that failure and success lies squarely on the individual.

  • Does the belief that failure and success lies squarely with the individual release society from any responsibility in assisting those needing help?
  • Support your position with examples.

Final Answer

Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!

failure or success depends on an individual.the most successful people and those who are poor only have one thing that separates them ,and that is time management.you will get to find that poor people are very effective and efficient when it comes to time wastage.the rich know how to manage their time well and that is why they do so well in life unlike the poor people.poor people lack the motivation to make use of ethe ideas that they have in mind and also keep on procrastinating.a good example of  poor people who have made it in life include Bill Gates and Steve Jobs.

Please let me know if you need any clarification. I'm always happy to answer your questions.
