Background: According to Sharda (2015), Physical corporate data centers are rapidly being replaced by virtual infrastructure called virtualization. Virtual infrastructure originally meant one in which software replaced hardware in a way that a "virtual machine" or a "virtual desktop system" was accessible to provide computing power. Typically, computing capabilities, storage, and networking are provided by a third party or a group of vendors, usually over the Internet or through a private network.

Virtualization
Virtualization is the development of creating a virtual kind of storage device, computer
hardware, and network resources (Pearlson, Saunders & Galletta, 2016). It involves the process
of running a virtual computer system in a layer distant from the actual hardware commonly
referred to as running many operating systems on the computer system simultaneously.
Benefits of virtualization
i.
It enables users to run applications intended for a different operating system without
switching or rebooting computers to a different system.
ii.
It provides a way to divide a large system into many small parts hence allowing the
server to be used efficiently by many applications and users with varied needs.
iii.
It enables isolation, allowing programs to run inside the virtual machine, keeping them
safe from other processes taking place in another virtual machine on the same host.
Cloud computing
Cloud computing is a technology that uses the internet and remote servers to preserve
applications and files (Pearlson & Saunders, 2013).. It thus permits the users to analyze and
process large amounts of data in a simple, fast and cost efficient manner.
