Organizations demand that employees meet a set of minimum standards set to guide them
in the workplace. Failure to do so, corrective action should be taken. Corrective action is the
process of notifying the employee to improve or desist from unwanted behavior after other
methods have failed (Okes, 2019). Corrective action may be appropriate where an employee
persists with unwanted behavior in the organization. A corrective action involves issuing a
warning to the employee and may encompass a disciplinary action where the employee persists.
Effective corrective action must ensure that the principle of ‘just cause' is followed. For
the case of this employee, I would follow the following steps; First, I would summon the
employee for a meeting in private after the job. At the meeting, I would ask for the reasons and
explanations of his/her constant late attendance to work. After that, I would remind him/her that
the policy is against coming late more than five times in a month. Once I have reminded
him/her, I would give him an oral warning that clearly explains the consequences of being late
next time. Failure to comply with the oral warning may warrant an issue of a written warning,
which may lead to disciplinary action (Okes, 2019).
