Introduction
According to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the
Center for Disease Control and Prevention, workplace violence entails the act of mounting a
verbal attack, physical assault or displaying behavior that threatens other workers within their
workplace (CDC, n.d.). The nature of violence meted on healthcare professionals include covert
and overt actions that could either be meted in the form of murder of verbal harassment to a
lesser extent. This article provides insights on the workplace violence and prevention measures
that can be included in an employee newsletter to enhance their skills and knowledge on how to
identify and deal with various forms of workplace violence they may encounter during their
ordinary course of employment.

apparatus available to boost the welfare and safety of the healthcare workers (Blando, Ridenour,
Hartley & Casteel, 2015). Healthcare workers also work in shifts that sometimes run into latenight hours which are synonymous with a high rate of crime.
