Diabetic population unmet needs in Pinellas Park Florida
Introduction
Diabetes is a condition that occurs when the sugar levels in our blood rise to
uncontrollable levels. 11% of Pinellas Park adult population has been diagnosed with diabetes
(Diabetes Management, n.d.). Overweight individuals who are 65 years and older are more
affected. Most of the diabetes patients are managing the condition through lifestyle change and
medical interventions, which make the healthcare system a vital part of combating the disease.
Despite efforts to ensure access to better access to care for diabetic patients, more patients are
succumbing to the disease due to mismanagement, lack of information, and lack of access to
regular healthcare. Therefore there are unmet needs that should be addressed to reduce mortality
rates in the affected Pinellas Park population. Diabetic patients are finding it difficult to cope due
to unmet needs in Pinellas Park.
