Executive Summary
The Ways and Means Oversight Committee held hearings on September 19, 2019, which was
intended to establish how tax subsidies could be utilized to minimize hate. The holding of this
hearing was prompted by an allegation that was raised by the Democrats legislators on an
increasing number of hate groups in the country. The members had alleged that there were 60 hate
groups in the United States which were operating under the tax-exempt status. The legislators
believed that these entities could be stripped off their tax-exempt status to avert their involvement
in hate speech. This came amid democrats' increased concern about the government subsidizing
groups that millions of Americans would find distasteful. The subcommittee invited different
