I think that the Wordsworth's observation of butterfly points to the nature and romance. Butterfly is often used as a symbol for beauty and romance in the poetry.By observing it he actually want us to observe nature closely. Natural beauty (here he depicted as butterfly) is a best mentor of human beings.
