In 7 pages explain What are schemas? Describe their essential character? From where do our schemas originate? What social and communicative functions do schemas serve? Some have argued that schemas can be useful tools. On the other hand, Walter Lippmann in 1922 seems to allude to schemas when he says, "We are all captives of the pictures in our head--our belief that the world we have experienced is the world that really exists." Some have argued that schemas may have deleterious consequences for our perception and our social behavior. Perhaps Lippmann might say that we are captives of the schemas we construct and hold in memory. Which position do you hold? Perhaps the answer to this question depends on the existence of moderating factors or the character of the schemas in question. Explicitly describe your position on the value of schemas. Then, be sure to support your position with evidence (in the form of research findings) that you have learned from our text and lectures/discussions. If you have not done so, describe how the concept of schemas has been used to explain sophisticated forms of communicative behavior in the field of communication (specifically, Constructivism). Be sure to introduce the concepts of interpersonal construct differentiation, interpersonal construct abstractness, listener adapted persuasion, reflection enhancing discipline, and comforting communication. How do the findings from Constructivism help us to understand our use of schemas as described by F & T.

Schema
A schema is described as a cognitive framework or skills that help in arranging and
translating information. The application of schema as fundamental knowledge was initially used
by the British Psychologist called Fredric Bartlett in his learning theory. In this theory, Bartlett
suggested that our understanding of the world is constructed by a system of unique mental
structures. In Jean Piaget’s theory, the notion schema gained fame. According to Jean Piaget
theory of cognitive development, children experience a progression of phases of intellectual
growth (Piaget, 2018).
The dreary activities of schematic play enable individuals to build importance in what
they are doing. Infants and little babies adapt best through chances to take part in dynamic
learning through hands on encounters (Haslanger, 2016). These chances enable infants and
children to tackle issues, question, foresee, envision, estimate and create autonomous decisions
as they settle on choices in different conditions they are used to (Haslanger, 2016). Understand
that individuals use play to build up a precise, methodical and consistent accumulation of data
through their faculties and developments as they cooperate with professionals, one another, items
and materials inside the essential condition.
In Piaget’s theory, a schema coordinates ideas as well as the means to attaining them.
Piaget accepted that individuals are often adjusting to the environment as they acquire new
information and adapt new experiences. As encounters happen and new ideas are experienced,
new schema are generated at a time when old schema are modified or altered (Piaget, 2018).
Schema can be useful in light of the fact that they empower us to take substitute routes in
interpreting the colossal proportion of information that is available in our condition. In any case,
these mental structures in like manner cause us to avoid appropriate data to focus somewhat just

on things that assert our past feelings and musings. Blueprint can add to speculations and make it
difficult to hold new information that doesn't fit in with our built up thoughts regarding the
world.
Where Schema Originate
Schema are generated based on the information acquired through life experiences and
consistently kept in the memory. Our minds make and use composition as a simple course to
make future encounters with similar conditions less difficult to investigate. The procedures
through which schemas are improved or altered are referred to as assimilation and
accommodation. In assimilation, new data in incorporated to pre-existing schema while in
accommodation, existing schema may be transformed or new schema may be created as
individual acquires new information and gains new experiences.
