Introduction
While George Washington is hailed as the first President of the United States, he was not the first person to hold the title President of the United States. In fact, there were eight other individuals that served in that position. These men were presidents under the Articles of Confederation, which pre-dated and helped in the process of constructing The Constitution. You can read more about these individuals at: http://www.constitutionfacts.com/us-articles-of-confederation/presidents-who-served/.
One of the major issues that the Articles of Confederation and The Constitution had to address was leadership. If the people of the colonies were to unite, they needed some form of leadership. A major aspect of this process was defining the role(s) of the primary leader(s).
Assignment
Using the two resources below (Articles of Confederation and the Constitution), as well as some research on the King of England, you task is to compare the powers of the Chief Executive.
Specifically, you are being asked to identify similarities and differences related to the following questions:
- How many chief executives should serve?
- What is the term of office?
- What can be done when the leader abuses his or her powers?
- What powers does the individual have in the making of laws?
- What powers over other parts of the government does the individual have?
- What is this individual’s role in foreign affairs?
- What is this individual’s role with the military?
Before continuing, you will want to the read Federalist Paper No. 69, which provides additional insight to how the crafters of the Constitution envisioned the role.
Once you have finished your comparisons, summarize your thoughts on how will you think the new government addressed the concerns that lead to the revolution. Your summary should also provide an analysis of the position as it is being used today. Do you believe that the current president and governmental structure is in alignment with the intentions of the founding fathers?
Refer to the rubric in your syllabus to understand how the assignment will be assessed. While there is not specific page-length associated with this assignment, the typical student submits 3-5 pages of script, following standard APA guidelines, not including a cover page (12 pt, double spaced, 1-inch margins).
I need 2 and 1/2 or 3 pages. Not 5. I repeat I need 2 1/2 or 3 pages. The textbook we are using is called "Bowling Alone" by Robert . Putnam. Not looking for genius work just a B paper.

The Power of One
The United States of America has for a long time been guided by two official documents,
the Constitution and Articles of Confederation. With the United States being a British colony, it

representation of the first constitutional agreement arrived at among 13 original American states;
hence served as the first constitution. The constitution, on the other hand, was a peculiar
document that centralized authority into a single political entity. Under the articles of
confederation, there was no chief executive. In the constitution, powers allocated to the Chief
executive include t...
