Historical events of the US (1800-1825)
Introduction
The period between 18000 and 1825 in American history marks the period after the
Revolutionary War, and America has just freed themselves from the British. At this stage,
America was still in the early stages of economic development as they try to secure control of the
western hemisphere from the European rule. There are several historical events during this
period in the US as evidently described in the timeline below
The purchase of Louisiana (1803)
In 1803, America bought Louisiana from France and some settlements in vast lands
extending to the mountains of Appalachian; with this new possession, the US gained his status as
a continental nation. The purchase was, however, considered an awful idea because its price was
the extremely high price ($15million) regarding the US economy as well as the utility of the land
at the time. As a consequence, the US got into debt, yet its economy could not afford to govern
that expansive land. Some critiques also lamented that some areas feared lack of representation
or withdrawn support (Bailyn, 2019).
Napoleon reign and demise (1804)
Another incident which followed was the napoleon’s self-declaration as the emperor of
napoleon 1 (at Notre Dame de Paris), in December 1804. He was the leader who sold Louisiana
to America as well as triggering the wars in the region. After a triumph in a war in Egypt, he
returned and overthrew the Directory headed by five directors responsible for overseeing French
society’s economy and politics. Napoleon lost in a battle to the duke of Wellington during the

napoleon in the history of Europe.
