Description
Conducting Research in the Ashford Library
A peer reviewed journal or article is an article or journal that has been reviewed by experts in the field and deemed to be worth reading by other professionals. Typically this is an extensive process in which reviewers are carefully vetted for expertise and professional experience. In this assignment, you will have an opportunity to examine a peer reviewed article and apply what you have learned to a professional scenario or activity.
Please refer to the following tutorials for guidance on conducting scholarly research at the Ashford Library:
Strategies and Actions
Step 1: ReflectionIn a paragraph, synthesize this week’s readings to construct a succinct description of the differences between a strategy and an action. Tip: Imagine you are explaining these concepts to a novice; do not assume your reader knows anything about actions and strategies.
Step 2: ResearchUsing our Ashford University Library, locate one peer reviewed article that describes research about effective change or implementation in an organization. Try to find an article that is similar to the problem area in your school or organization you’ll introduce in your Week 1 Assignment; this will become the foundation of your Final Project in this course. The article needs to come from a peer reviewed source (e.g., Journal) and be a full-text article. In a paragraph, review the article by focusing on an explanation of which strategies and actions worked and which did not work and state possible reasons.
- Tips: Suggested search keywords are change, strategy, action, plus any keywords that relate to your chosen problem area of your Final Project. (c) You should then use this article(s) to support your initial response for Week 1 Discussion 1. Please specify the database where you located the article(s) as part of your APA citation.
Step 3: ApplicationImagine you are a consultant hired by the organization described in your research from Step 2. Construct a one slide presentation that shows the relationship between the strategies and action from the situation at the organization that is discussed in the article you chose. Options for the presentation could include Google Presentations, Prezi, or Microsoft PowerPoint. You are encouraged to be creative and to make sure you include connecting lines and/or other elements to provide a clear visual representation on the slide. Attach or link to the presentations slide in your initial response. Finally, include in your response a one paragraph script that you could use to present the slide to stakeholders at the organization. Make sure you address each component on the slide in your script.
