History and development of forensic science
The history of forensic science dates back thousands of years, with fingerprints being the
first application of forensic science. The ancient Chinese used fingerprints as a forensic science
technique to identify documents. In 1892, a eugenicist by the name Sir Francis Galton created
the first system for classifying fingerprints. In 1835, Scotland Yard's Henry Goddard developed a
forensic science technique and used it in undertaking a physical analysis connecting a bullet to a
murder case (Lillard, 2010). However, bullet forensic examination became more precise in the
1920s with the development of microscope by Calvin Goddard, an American physician. The
microscope helped in determining which bullet might have been used to carry out a crime based
