Introduction

Both complimentary and traditional interventions for illness are not considered part of
standard medical practice. The most commonly used complimentary modality are; tai chi,
acupuncture, among other practices. Traditional interventions for illness involve a holistic
approach in connecting the soul, mind, and body. Therefore, this study looks at the
complimentary modality techniques and traditional interventions that are oriented towards
healing and putting into consideration the connection of body, mind, and spirit of the individual
diagnosis.

doctor. The different complimentary modalities types include herbal medicine, massage therapy,
acupuncture, among others (Elaine & APP, 2015). Different elements of traditional interventions
include psychological, spiritual, cultural, and spiritual. Traditional intervention for illness also
focused on the connection of body, mind, and spirit. It also emphasizes an environment being a

the clients' needs after observing them. As an example, a nurse is always expected to make an
anxious patient more calm and relaxed. Traditional medicine has many origins such as culture,
