You have been hired as a technician to sample environmental and waste media. Create a checklist of sampling equipment that you would need for the following situations:

- soil and sediment
- groundwater and surface water
- containers (drums, tanks, bags)
- chips, wipes, sweepings; biota; artifacts

Potential Barriers
Technicians encounter barriers in carrying out the representative environmental sampling
points at a certain area or place. The examples of obstacles to sampling are as follow:
a. During the investigation of the sampling personnel upon arriving at the place after having
the detailed preliminary tasks discovered that parts of their target areas are covered with
unmelted snow.
b. Inadequate planning or carelessness such as forgetting the necessary materials needed
like container caps
c.
Neglect in charging meter batteries
d. Failure to coordinate with the utility or pipeline companies prior to digging activities
e. Failure to bring or wear personnel protection equipment
f. Lack of knowledge in sampling strategies
g. Inability or failure to communicate onsite decisions
h. Neglect in providing and securing safety equipment such as safety kines and first aid
equipment
i. Failure to ensure the reliability and safety of the field test and storage equipment
