The Dia de Los Muertos is a ceremonial event that allows people to use traditional
offerings to remember their loved ones. This festival is also referred to as the day of the dead and
is celebrated throughout Mexico, especially in the south and central regions (Greenleigh &
Beimler, 1998). This day involves the gathering of friends and family to pray for the loved ones
who have passed away and also help support their journey spiritually. Death is a natural part of
the cycle, and the Mexican population views it as a celebration day and not a day of sadness.
This day is a public holiday in Mexico.
It is also celebrated in regions that have a high Mexican population. Other traditions are
connected to this holiday, which includes the private altar where those celebrating visit the
