Life Cycle of a Dragonfly
Dragonflies are sexually dimorphic that means male and females are different. The life cycle
involves three stages: Egg, larva or Nymph , and Adult. This kind of development in insects is known
as hemimetabolus metamorphosis or incomplete metamorphosis (unlike in butterflies,
holometabolous metamorphosis) where they do not undergo the pupal stage. The adult is terrestrial
in habitat while the larval form is aquatic.
The eggs are laid by females in hundreds in multiple batches close to surface of water so that when
