Description

hello! this is my weekly lab report.

the lab name is

Lab #9, Experiment 43 Analysis for Vitamin C (1)File

hope you can go into the web site and write it.

also, I need a calculations for my last weeks lab.

I will send the powerpoint with the numbers.

Hydrogen and Alkaline Earth Metals Lab
Experimental Procedure
Part D. Determining the Relative Solubilities of Some Salts of the Alkaline Earth Metals
In this experiment, 16 test-tubes held in a rack were required.
1. Put four drops of Ba(NO3)2 solution to the first row of four test-tubes in the rack labeled A.
2. Repeat step 1 for the subsequent rows Labelled B, C, and D using Ca(NO3)2, Mg(NO3)2, and
Sr(NO3)2 solutions respectively in place of Ba(NO3)2 solution.
3. To the first column, labeled 1 comprising test-tubes containing the different four solutions
add four drops of 1M Na2SO4 solution and note whether a precipitate is formed and the
distinguishing characteristic.
4. Repeat step 3 for the subsequent columns labeled 2,3, and 4 using 1M Na2CO3, 0.25M
(NH4)2C2O4, and 0.1M KIO3, solution respectively in place of 1M Na2SO4 solution.
Part B. Relative Oxidizing Powers of the Halogens
a)
1.
2.
3.

Color of Halogens
Put few millimeters of Br2 saturated water in a test-tube.
Add one millimeter of heptane (HEP) into the test tube and note the color change.
Repeat steps 1 and 2 using Cl2 and I2 in place of Br2.

b)
1.
2.
3.
4.

Halogen and Halide Reactions
Put 1ml of Br2 saturated water and 1ml of HEP to each test-tube of three test-tubes.
Add 1ml of 0.1M NaCl to one of the test-tubes, mix well, and note the observable change.
Repeat step 2 using 0.1M NaBr and 0.1M NaI.
Repeat steps 1, 2, and 3 using Cl2 and I2 in place of Br2.

Part C. Identification of an Alkaline Earth Halide
Procedure for identifying the Group 2A cation
1. Using the observations from part D, determine a method to identify the alkaline earth metal
cation. Use one or more of the reagents from part D.
Procedure for identifying the Group 7A anion
1. Using the observations from part B, determine a method to identify the halide anion.
Lab Safety Measure
1. All waste should...
