Everyone has faced challenges at some point in life, but life must continue, one has to
make a choice even when the situation presents nothing to choose from. A suicide note, whether
it is real or imagined, is usually a personal one to read. One would wish they could go back in
time and tell the author of the note that taking such an ultimate action is not going to solve
anything and encourage to keep going. The poem “Suicide Note” by Janice Mirikitani is about a
young girl, Asian-American, and a college student who decided to leave a note before
committing suicide. The poet recorded the last thoughts, feelings, and attitudes towards the
parents who never appreciated the poet’s efforts in both life and academics. The author thinks
that they have always been a disappointment in the eyes of the parents. The pressure built on
