The Core (2003) Film Analysis
The Core is an American science fiction movie that was directed by Jon Amiel in 2003.
The film focus is on a team of scientists whose aim is to drill the Earth’s center and set numerous
nuclear explosions to restart Earth’s core rotation. Paramount Pictures released the movie in
2003. The main characters are Aaron Eckhart, who acts as a geophysicist, and Stanley Tucci and
Tcheky Karyo are also scientists. The three are aware of earth’s magnetic field instability, which
they attribute to strange events across the globe. They note that molten earth core, which is
responsible for generating the magnetic field has ceased from rotating, and in less than a year it
will fall, exposing the earth’s surface to destructive solar radiation. The scientists are supported
by the United States government to create a plan that will restart the rotation. They also gain help
from Delray Lindo, a rogue scientist who has made a vessel that can withstand the pressure and
heat of the crust and convert it into energy. The vessel is driven by laser system which makes it
possible for the vessel to pass through the earth’s crust faster. The mission ends up causing
devastating consequences for planet earth. This essay is a review of accuracy of physics laws and
