1. What are Henry’s main demographic variables (e.g., race/ethnicity, gender, sexual
orientation, age, socioeconomic status) that make up his multicultural identities? Be
sure to include any significant events in Henry’s life as well.
The client in question, Mr. Henry Thompson, belongs to the African American
community in the United States. This distinction means that he is part of the vast minority in the
country (Darawsheh et al., 2015). Henry is a middle-aged man with clocking fifty-six years. He
is at the prime of his life with several children and a wife, meaning he is settled, and his main
objectives are caring for his family and maintaining a creative work ethic. He is a heterosexual,
evidenced by his marriage to two women and infidelity accusations. Henry’s social, economic
status is stable and iconic, given his acclaimed awards on two of his shows, making him a human
admirable figure. His ability to cater to his daughter’s college tuition and at the same time, look
after his immediate and extended family suggests economic stability and thriving.

2. What is your initial diagnosis of Henry’s presenting concerns?
Mr. Thompson’s presenting concerns indicate trauma and emotional turmoil, which is
evidenced by his unresolved feelings towards the true cause of the death of his mother. He is in a
state of denial which pours onto his personal life and affects those around him. The emotional
distance has also been proven to be a consistent cause of infidelity in some cases. Henry is a
caring individual but worries that his generosity is a weakness evidenced by his dislike of
William’s tendency to burden him with his problems. Henry is immersing himself into his work
and travels to avoid dealing with the issues that haunt his life, making him have an unhealthy
relationship with his wife. Henry’s work inspiration seems to be a result of the trials and
