Antibiotic Resistance
I believe antibiotic-resistant bacteria occur because of overusing antibiotics which causes
harmful side effects in the human body. Moreover, antibiotics are viewed as not useful to viral
diseases such as the common cold, bronchitis, and flu. It’s due to the widespread overuse of such
antibiotics treating the viruses that promote antibiotic resistance while health experts are looking
for smart alternatives for controlling the spread of resistance. Furthermore, livestock with
resistant bacteria in their gut can contaminate the meat or other products. Livestock animals can
also infect the soil and water used for growing crops by spreading bacteria through feces
(Guilfoile, & Alcamo, 2007).
