does vision play any role in equilibrium and balance? If it does can you explain how? If you have a reference, that would be great. Thx
The body's ability to maintain equilibrium is complex, and involves several senses and significant interpretation by the brain. Vision is quite important, though (one of the reasons elderly have balance problems). "Vision plays a significant role in balance. Approximately twenty percent of the nerve fibers from the eyes interact with the vestibular system." http://www.nora.cc/patient_area/balance_... Hope that helps!
