life imprisonment's severity depends on the chances of parole. where parole is possible the prisoner remains hopeful but beyond a given age the notion of parole just creates a feeling of depressing embitterment.

the introduction of life imprisonment was met to replace the death penalty however to must prisoners the prospect of life imprisonment without parole is worse than the death sentence. the prisoner is forced to accept that he/she will never again in his lifetime become a member of society. the hardest part is learning to embrace prison as home.

truth be told the death sentence is a release for some prisoners from a life of wrongs and misfortune while life imprisonment comes as a form of sentence within a sentence. you are confided to walls and confided in spirit.
