Running head: GLOBALIZATION
SareeMadkisi through this book, has succeeded in painting a clear picture of the
underlying political struggle that has existed for a while between Palestine and Israel. The book
has highlighted how the Israeli administration has allegedly misused political realism as a theory
of globalization in their bid to recover Palestinian land (Makdisi, 2010). Political realism has
been described by some sociological scholars as to the pursuit of independent states to achieve
autonomy. With this autonomy, these states then proceed to push for their national interests,
which come at any cost. SareeMakdisi outlines how Israel has, for a while, now subjected the
Palestinian civilians to inhumane conditions all in the name of reclaiming Israeli land(Makdisi,
2010). These inhumane conditions come in the form of forceful occupation of Palestine land that
is characterized by frequent roadblocks and curfews that have chocked the Palestine economy
and, subsequently, the Palestinian government's ability to meet the basic needs of its citizens.
