Need help with my Powerpoint question - I’m studying for my class.
This presentation will be your exploration of a famous family (past or present) in the United States. You may select someone who is in the limelight. This can include movie stars, politicians, athletes, stage actors/musicians, musicians & anyone that is likely to be recognized by your instructor or your classmates. Once you have chosen your 'family', you will identify each of the following: (10 points each)
•Their family structure (nuclear, single parent, extended, childless, stepfamily, grandparent family)
•Habits/rituals of the family
•Dating practices in the family
•Legality of the family (married or cohabiting)
•Roles of the individuals in the family
•Identify any conflicts that are known to be in this family
•Theoretical perspective that fits with the family – at least 3 slides (30 points) (required).
(Some theories that might fit with your family – Symbolic Interaction, Social Conflict, Social Exchange Theory, Family Systems Theory, Feminist Theory. Of course, there are others, but these are the main ones that can be found in Chapters 1 and 2 of your textbook. Be sure you understand the theory as you choose to apply it to the family you are presenting about.)
Be sure to include, at a minimum, at least four of the points above (in addition to discussion of the theoretical perspective).
You may also include other information that you think is important for your subject. There should be a minimum of 3-5 outside sources. (10 points)
Acceptable Length: At least 15-22 slides (excluding the title and reference slide. Each slide should have a "comments" area with your research documented in MLA Format
Also, include an additional visual component- such as a video- an interview, or video of the person in social media, an audio podcast, a graph/chart that illustrates the person's family tree or popularity for example, an article about the individual- are examples-- you will also include/explain this visual in your presentation.
Acceptable Length: At least 15-22 slides (5 points deducted for slides less than the minimum).
•Put your name, course and section number, and assignment title on the first slide
•Choose a font, and slide style that are easy to read.
•Use MLA Citation Style
Grading Criteria: You will be graded on content (how many of the points you addressed), sources cited, length, and how well you described some of the points, especially your use of Sociological Theory. The more thorough, the better. Submit timely.
