Which countries are known as the Baltic nations?
The Baltic States are countries in the northeastern part of Europe. These countries which occupy
the eastern shores of the Baltic Sea are Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia. They are bordered to the
North and West by the Baltic Sea, which is where they derive their name. On the east, they
border Russia while on the southwest they border Poland and an exclave of Russia called
Kaliningrad. On the southeast, these countries border Belarus (Purnell, & Paulanka, 2003).

In the Baltic countries, illness rates are similar to that of the American population. The leading
cause of death in this region is heart disease and cancer. Industrial pollution and nuclear
