Crash movie, the Oscar winning movie was directed by Paul Haggis. The film is a drama
basically regarding race and its consequences on different persons within Los Angeles. Crash
narrates the interlocking tales of blacks, Koreans, whites, Latinos, criminals, cops, the powerless
and the powerful, the rich as well as the underprivileged, all well-defined within one means or
another through racism (Ray, 2007). All are victims of racism and all are guilty of racism. At
times they rise above even though it is not that simple. The film promotes or endorses racial
awareness although similar to any discussion about race it calls for a close examination. It
promotes a very delicate matter and hence the need for some thorough evaluation. The film
focuses on realities but within a not-so-realistic manner.
The film tells the interlocking tales of blacks, Koreans, whites, Latinos, criminals, cops,
the powerless and the powerful, the rich as well as the poor, all described within one means or
the other through racism. Throughout the film, a variety of African American women and men
are shown, a Persian family, numerous Hispanic characters as well as several Asians. A scene
switches to the next only since the initial character’s storyline intersects with that of the
subsequent. We come across a Cabot family since two youthful black men stirs within the scene
stealing her vehicle (Ray, 2007). Similarly, Hispanic locksmith seeking to generate an income is
employed at the store of the Persian man striving with life as migrant.
There are various stereotypical behaviors or perceptions about groups of people that are
clear within the film which we have talked about in class readings and discussions. The film
released in 2005 shows the point of view of every character such as from the Latino’s,
Caucasians and African-Americans (Villanueva, 2007). A case of stereotype is that of the
