The health status of children and adolescents is measured based on a host of indicators.
These indicators include physical and mental aspects, social determinants, and economic
indicators. The mental and physical health indicators in child and adolescent health situations
focus on the overall state of one’s health, the health outcomes which entail diseases and injuries
(Moore et al., 2015). The physical and mental health indicator also assess risks to health like
behaviors and situations that increase the risk for present or future health. The health status of
both adolescents and children is also assessed through mortality and morbidity as any disease
occurrence and death affects their health conditions. For instance, surveillance data on injuries
and fatalities that occur among young people offers insight into one element of how children are
doing.
