Comparative Analysis
Food purchases comprise of important means for satisfying the basic psychological need
for nourishment. On the other hand, the purchase of food decisions is not always based on the
simple psychological needs fulfillment. Consumer behavior is important in understanding the
economics behind food purchases by a consumer. The target market is also vital in the
understanding and identification of consumer food purchases behavior. Economic concepts,
frameworks, and tools are useful in understanding why food production and agricultural sectors
operate as they pinpoint inefficiencies that adversely affect the environment and public health.
Economic tools can be applied to deal with the dead zone in the Gulf of Mexico. The dead zone
is an environmental problem which affects the agriculture production. It is caused by runoff and
leaching of fertilizers into water paths. The dead zones in water are caused by fertilizer runoffs
that block animals and plants in the water lack sunlight hence die off. Therefore economic tools
are the answer to this problem.
With the advancement of technology, scientists are coming up daily with various
inventions. One of the advances is the genetic engineering, which involves modifying of genes
across the organisms. The scientists do the modification by transferring the genes from one
species to another to produce a better species of the plant. The scientists do the latter through
genetic engineering, which started in 1973. The process has significantly advanced over the
years, and they use it to produce more developed organisms. Studies show that people are using
the process in various fields such as agriculture, medicine as well as manufacturing
biotechnology. Therefore, the genetic technology is gradually taking the course of evolution as it
influences many of our sectors. Besides that, we should leave it to make changes to our current

surrounding. In this paper, will discuss in depth as well as support the need of letting the genetic
technology modify our environment.
Genetic engineering is useful in the medicine sector. It is greatly helping the medical
practitioners to manufacture drugs. The physicians are also using it to perform the laboratory
researchers as well as the creation of model organisms. Therefore, we should embrace, as it will
enable the medical practitioners to come up with fast and reliable results. (Janvier & Farlow
2014).
In the industries, one modifies the microorganisms such as bacteria to essential proteins
such as enzymes. One can also produce large quantities of the protein by putting them in
equipment known as the bioreactor. People are also using it in the industrial sector to
manufacture biofuels as well as spotting arsenic in drinking water. The farmers are also using it
in agriculture in the production of crops, in the fish farming among others. It is also helping the
farmers to protect their crops from dangers in the environment such as pathogens as well as cold
increasing food productivity.
Briefly, we should embrace the genetic technology and leave it to change our
environment. It is because it is making our environment better for instance by helping in the
destruction of environmental hazards in the farm. Through it, we can detect arsenic in the water
that you drink among other corrections its making in the environment.
The main implication of standard economic models market outcomes is efficient under
ideal conditions. The existence of market failure occurs when the most efficient market outcome
is not achieved. For instance, one way that market failure occurs is when there is an externality
in a market. This means that all benefits or costs of production or product or service consumption

are not internalized in its market price. Therefore, the buyers are not supposed to pay the optimal
amount from a social perspective. The food system policies may indirectly or directly affect the
prices of food products, nutritional composition, and their safety. The policies may affect the
cost of production hence affecting the pricing pattern of the commodity. The income and support
programs have affected the supply of food in the market through its provisions. Food safety
regulations also play important role in controlling the food products allowed in the country.
Optimization is doing the best one can do with all resources available. People engage in
optimization under constraints especially when they are in economics lingo and in whatever
decision it...
