Pain Management Reflection
From my interaction with mountaineer challenge academy teenagers aged between 14-18,
it is evident that pain forms part of the psychological disorders. I was drawn by the attention of
seeing teenagers languishing in pain due to lack of better pain management strategies. Thus, I
decided to incorporate the use of competencies which include team and management, roles and
responsibilities, value and ethics for inter-professional practices and inter-professional
communication.
In order to ensure accurate and reliable data collection from the Academy teenagers, I
formed a team composed of several students. This I made possible by equipping teenagers with
skills and knowledge of tackling pain management topics. Thereby, I ensured honesty and
accountability in the group topic discussions. In my reflection, I ensured a free environment that
allows students, health specialists, patients, family members, community and professionals to
engage in a question and answer conversation. I educated them to read labels and ask
pharmacists and health care providers about any questions pertaining to pain management. I also
taught the teenagers on the pain scale and when it is appropriate and inappropriate to self-treat
that in turn leads to better long term health outcomes( Perrot, et al 2019)
I ensured a clear strategy on circumstances that lead to pain and thereby communicating
to the teenagers on their role and responsibilities in handling pain among themselves and the
