The metric is system is an international decimal system first adopted in France in 1799.
The metric system allows users to convert units to new place values by only changing the
decimal. Most developed countries have developed the system. Even though the metric system
was legalized in the United States since 1866, the US has not yet converted to the system.
According to Hiskey (2019), there are three reasons why the United States has not shifted to the
metric system, and they include cost, human psychology, and a general public side. When it
comes to cost, the United States will spend approximately trillion dollars, hence consider it
expensive to shift to the metric system.
The UK is one of the developed nations, which is almost complete with shifting from the
inch-pound system to the metric system while, on the other hand, the United States has not yet
adopted the policy. Many Americans believe that there is no need to switch to the metric system
