Origins of Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence (AI) is a term that existed for many years. The term was first
coined in 1955 by John McCarthy. Other researchers like Alan Turing conducted more studies
about AI before 1955, but they were not explicitly working under the field of AI. AI can be
defined as a machine that can solve issues that are typically done by humans using their natural
intelligence (Russell & Norvig, 2016). If a computer can learn how to improve itself without
human input while solving these issues autonomously, then it demonstrates a type of artificial
intelligence.
