In my discussion, I will be comparing President Jefferson Thomas and Andrew Jackson
as they both left considerable legacies for the country. The two differ in terms of how they
approached the national issues.
Thomas Jefferson
Jefferson, a lawyer, was born in Albemarle, Virginia state. He used to practice law in his
home county before becoming the president. He was also a farmer and a politician and he served
as the legislature for Virginia. He was the 3rd American president from 1801–1809. He made
and enacted various foreign and domestic policies that were for the good of the nation. Some of
the domestic policies that he made are discussed below.
Jefferson in his presidency focused more on education, agriculture, and economic
development by reducing expenditure by the government. To achieve his economic objectives,
Jefferson wanted to reduce the government expenditures and he cut the military budget to suit
the new tax measures that reduced taxes. He also reduced the number of military personnel and
appropriations. He was also against other taxations such as the internal revenues in the country,
land taxes, and the whiskey tax that was highly protected by the citizens. Trade ties increased
within the country ...
