What is the relationship between Why We Work and facing the future?
The sense to earn a living is a concept that has been applied ever since the beginning of
humanity. Even the early communities had to find ways of getting food which transformed into
hunting, gathering and later on the domestication of plants and animals. Work has been part of
humanity motivated by many reasons. The concept of working to earn developed in the early
stages of evolution. The first man realized that they had to look for food for survival and engage
in arts to get tools. While they made individual trips, the family aspect made them understand
that hunting and gathering is no longer an activity done to satisfy personal hunger but the whole
family, especially the children. The same reasons are still constant in modern society where
people are struggling every day to put food on the table (Schwarts 17). We all have to work to
sustain ourselves, meet the daily needs and build the future.
Why we work is an easy question but holds complex explanations. Every individual
probably has an explanation of why they work, but the most constant reason is that we all engage
in a money generating activities because we need the money. Even the bible states that a person
has to toil to work and eat after sweating. As much as this biblical concept has changed where all
genders are involved in different jobs, the main reason for toiling is so that mouths can be fed.
Working has varied reasons which are also dependent on other intervening factors.
