Abstract
Technology has played a key in making work easier and more efficient. However,
technology is taking over human jobs in various industries. From the recent past dating from the
agricultural and industrial revolution in Europe and America, the introduction of machines and
advancement in technology has continued to replace humans. Modern technology such as
artificial intelligence, robotics, computing, and automation have continued to take over jobs from
humans. They have been widely in fields such as manufacturing, health, agriculture, transport,
and services industries where automation of rendered thousands of people jobless. The
successful development of driverless cars will also render millions of drivers jobless across the
world.

Introduction
Technology is defined as the summation of skills, procedures, techniques, and processes
that assist in the production of goods and services or that are used to accomplish a specific
objective. These knowledge and techniques are embedded in machines to assist in operations
normally done by human beings. The machines take certain inputs and change them to the
desired outcomes with little or no human assistance. The development of technology has made
industrial processes more efficient and effective with the introduction of machines that have
made work easier and faster. Technology has revolutionized the workplace environment with the
introduction of machines, computers, and robots that utilize artificial intelligence to make work
easier and efficient. Advancement in technology has resulted in the creation of millions of new
jobs in almost every industrial and service sectors. However, there have been concerns among
various groups that technology is taking over the jobs of human beings. The use of machines,
computer systems, and applications, as well as robots, has been on the rise in manufacturing,
agriculture and other sectors and it is believed that they perform routine tasks that were
performed by human beings. There are also big concerns that technological advances in areas
such as computing and automation are continuing to replace tasks and jobs that many employees,
families, and communities depended on. This paper provides a detailed discussion of the impact
of technology on human jobs and looks at how technology is taking over human jobs. It also
describes how technology has replaced human jobs in recent history.
