Introduction
Formerly known as Tesla Motors Inc., Tesla Inc. identifies itself as an energy and an
automotive company of American origin with its headquarters in Palo Alto, California. The
company is mainly an electric car manufacturer but operates a second subsidiary, SolarCity,
primarily concerned with the manufacture of solar panels and other energy products (Vance &
Sanders, 2015). In the US, the company has multiple production and assembly plants but
operates two Gigafactory in Reno Nevada and the Tesla manufacturing factory in Fremont,
California. The automobiles manufactured by the company are branded Tesla, and various
models of Tesla cars exist as of November 2019. The models include the latest Tesla Cybertruck,
Tesla Semi, and Tesla Model 3, S, Tesla model P, Tesla Model Y, and the Tesla Roadster (Vance
& Sanders, 2015). Other products manufactured and sold by the company through its subsidiary
company include megapack batteries, solar roof tiles, power wall, power pack, and solar panels.
The company trades public in the US stock market as TSLA.
History and background of Tesla motors
Tesla was founded in July 2013by engineering friends Martin Eberhard and Marc
Tarpening. At the time, the company was known as Tesla Motors. The choice of the company’s
name was driven by the need for the two engineer friends to pay tribute to Nikola Tesla, who
was an inventor, mechanical and electric engineer of Serbian and American origin. The engineer
contributed immensely to the modern alternating country in electrical supply (Vance & Sanders,
2015). Later, Elon Musk and J. B. Straubel joined the company earning themselves the cofounder title. Initially, Musk served as the chairman but currently serves as the CEO of confesses

For the years the company has been in operation, it has amassed a large following
allowing it to produce various automotive products for the market. For example, the Model Y
automotive in under production and is an improved version Model P, which is an SUV with a
carrying capacity of seven. The Tesla Model S and the Tesla roadster were among the first car
brands developed by the automaker. The Tesla roadster production was discontinued after three
years of production (Rothaermel, 2017). For the years it has been in operation, the company has
experienced fast growth mainly associated with the fact that it is an all-electric car with
minimum costs of operation as fueling it frequently results in high operational costs. With new
