"Blessed Be The Tie That Binds" is used in the play, from what I understand, to emphasize that the connections between people should be cherished and nurtured, like the bond between husbands and wives, as when it is used in the wedding scene, parents and children and friendships. Companionship is important to human life and to be alone is normally not within our natures as a species.
