Film Analysis Essay Length: 1500 word minimum For this assignment, you will construct an argument about a single film and support that argument by drawing upon scholarly writing about the film as well as a formal analysis of a sequence (or sequences) from the film. Successful papers will: • Demonstrate competency with relevant concepts and terminology that we have studied in class • Make an argument specific enough that it can be argued agains • Situate that argument within existing scholarship about the film from the field of film studies, potentially agreeing with, extending, or arguing against an author's thesis Audience: If you like, imagine your audience to be an intelligent peer who has taken this class and knows the standard definitions of the course's terminology. Your reader has also seen the film you are discussing, but will need one or two sentences summarizing the plot as a refresher. You may also imagine your reader having already formed a thesis about the film in opposition to yours. Use your essay to persuade the reader of your argument. You do not need to convince your reader of the film's quality or importance. Research and documentation: Your essay must draw on at least one secondary, scholarly essay from the field of film studies that is about the film that you have selected. Search the library's catalog of film journals, anthologies and monographs to find works such as reviews and interviews, if they are relevant to your thesis (see pp. 426 - 432 of the course textbook). Provide a footnote citation each time your paper quotes, paraphrases, or refers to a source as well as a separate Works Cited page. Follow Chicago writing guidelines except when they contradict this assignment's instructions. Common knowledge such as a film's director, date of release, duration, etc. do not need citations. Note: This paper must be an original work, written for this course alone. Formatting checklist: Thoughtful title that relates to your thesis. Do not include a separate title page. • 12-point, Times New Roman (or similar) font • 1-inch margins all around • Double-spaced • Chicago-style footnotes and works cited section

a dark man, Tony acknowledges the activity and they start their trek furnished with The Negro
Motorist in the Green Book, a travel agent for torus and travel through the infamous America's
racial exclusion period. Together, the bombastically intellectual piano player and the roughly
reasonable bouncer can scarcely coexist with their conflicting frames of mind to life and beliefs.
Be that as it may, as the divergent pair observer and bear America's shocking shameful acts out
and about, they locate a recently discovered regard for one another's abilities and begin to
confront them together. In doing as such, they would support a companionship and
understanding that would change both their lives.

and not Dr. Shirley who was a leading African-American musician. The film: “Green Book”
relates to a Civil Rights narrative white character’s perspective which is the most criticized
feature in several racial-harmony movies such as “The Help” and “Mississippi Burning”. The
problem is that as these films pile up, something just feels misappropriated, as though the whites

attitude has claimed big percentage of the social aspect in American life in the early and mid
2oth century which is evident in Snides sentiments and the hostility faced by the African-
