King’s Conceptual System Theory
Healthcare sector a critical aspect of human life. Key departments in these fields are
medicine and nursing, which are handled by doctors and nurses. More often, the two health
practitioners get confused where a majority of people think doctors and nurses have the same duties
and responsibilities. However, there is a clear distinction between the two professions. According
to doctors specialize in medicine and treatment of epidemics through medication, medical
procedures, and sometimes surgery (Themes, 2019). On the other hand, the nursing field trains
nurses to be caregivers of patients with various diseases. Also, they have the ability and knowledge
on how to diagnose, treat and manage frequent epidemics such as malaria, among others. Needless
to say, after the doctor administers drugs, patients are left under the care of nurses who time in
time look after patients to solve minor issues that might occur. Therefore, nurses play a crucial
role in the healing process of patients; to help nurses become competent and efficient in their
duties, various nursing theories have been put forward (Smith & Parker, n.d.). For instance, the
king's conceptual system Theory suggests that humans are the central focus of nursing, and the
primary objective of nursing is health promotion, maintenance, restoration; care of the sick or
injured; and care of the dying. This paper, in detail explores the Kings Conceptual systems theory,
expounds on the personal, interpersonal and social systems and how they influence goal
attainment.

King’s conceptual system revolves around the idea that people are the focus of nursing. He
further notes that in the nursing domain, which is composed of human beings, families, and
communities form a framework within which the nurses operate where the goal is to restore health.
According to King, the mission and vision of nursing are health promotion, maintenance,

interact with patients on multiple occasions; thus, they must apply systems knowledge and to
observe and interpret different case scenarios and intervene appropriately to help individuals cope
with illness and other health crises like injuries. Some of those systems are a personal,
interpersonal and social system
