Introduction
Euthanasia originated from a Greek word meaning “peaceful death,” which relates to a
doctor’s deliberate hurrying of a patient’s death to alleviate suffering (Daniel, A. B 2011). There
is a famous convectional doctrine that Passive euthanasia (“letting die”) is legally allowed in
certain cases while active euthanasia (death induced by a physician) has never been morally
justifiable. In many cases, physicians will delay treatment and do nothing wrong if the death
occurs, but the physician must never “harm” the patient. Active euthanasia happens a physician,
or another individual intentionally induces a patient's death. Passive euthanasia, on the other
hand, results when death occurs, and nothing could have been done to keep the patient alive, or
whatever that could have been done to avert the death is avoided. Passive euthanasia is also
available to non-terminal patients in edge-of-life procedures that are widely accepted (Varelius,
J., 2016). That explains why the differences between active and ethical euthanasia are centered
on morals. On the one hand, we agree that refusing medication and allowing a patient to die is
