Assisted suicide is considered to be deliberate intervention carried out with the motive of
ending a life to stop intractable pain. It is usually undertaken with the help of another person.
Some of the arguments used in support of assisted suicide include the following; first, there is an
inadequate treatment for physical pain. Affected parties feel that they have endured too much
suffering to the extent they cannot take it anymore. Second, there is a lack of structures and
medical ability to address emotional pain. The affected individual is likely undergoing
depression, and he or she does not have frameworks to deal with the issue. Third, there are
concerns about a person being a burden due to over-dependency on other family members. Thus,
the high costs associated with healthcare can be used as a motive for assisted suicide. Fourth,
there is the presence of socioeconomic stressors that make an individual feel hopeless and
useless. The sufferer is likely to be undergoing periods of inadequacy and experiences selfdefeatist thoughts. Fifth, the possibility of a painful death is likely to scare a person. Therefore,
