was discovered in “The Afar”, northeastern Ethiopia.
2. How did Donald Johansen know that “Lucy” walked bipedally (upright)? He knew based
on the way that her knee bone and her shin sat together.
3. What was the environment like in Africa before the time of “Selam”? How do the
researchers know? Africa was wet and tropical covered by rainforest. They know
that by the fossils of the animals that lived there.
