Introduction
Artificial intelligence has recently taken an increasingly vital role in the function of
society. Even though artificial intelligence has been in use for a while, it has recently attracted a
large amount of attention and has rapidly grown and integrated itself into the daily lives of the
common man. When looking at today’s society, artificial intelligence can be found in many areas
such as social media, mobile devices, motor vehicles, medical equipment, and much more. With
this new technology taking on an important role in the efficiency of society, there must be a
public understanding of the benefits and drawbacks of using AI and how it can be regulated in
both daily life and in the workplace.
Regulation of AI Usage
With this technology growing and evolving at an incredible rate, the need for regulation
must be assessed. The articles ask the question of whether artificial intelligence is ready for
public use or if it should be reviewed and prepared more thoroughly before allowing it to be
implemented into society. The other countries and companies will continue their own research
and gain more advanced technology, causing the United States to fall behind both economically
and security wise.
Because government regulation of AI is a long process that may greatly hinder the
advancement of this emerging technology, it may be better to regulate the implementation of AI
applications in areas such as entertainment and transportation rather than regulate the overall
research of artificial intelligence. In Hauer’s writing, he argues whether artificial intelligence can
have its own ethics or if it must depend on set algorithms and human input. Hauer states that,
“The most important questions are whether the machines can think, whether we will give them
the copyright, which the animals do not have until now, and the question whether AI can have its

own ethics.” (Hauer, 2018) Over the years, there have been many tests done in hope of replacing
human workers with artificial intelligence in the future. These tests determine whether AI act
